The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) stands at the forefront of scientific innovation, driving research in energy, batteries, materials, and cutting-edge technologies. Located in the vibrant city of Berlin, this prestigious research institution is part of the Helmholtz Association, Germany's largest scientific organization, renowned for tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
At its core, HZB is committed to exploring and developing sustainable energy solutions, with a particular focus on solar energy and advanced materials science. Its world-class research facilities, including the BESSY II synchrotron light source, attract leading scientists and engineers from across the globe. These state-of-the-art resources enable groundbreaking discoveries in fields such as photovoltaics, catalysis, and quantum materials.
With a clear vision for the future of energy storage, the research group led by Dr Ingo Manke at the Institute for Electrochemical Energy Storage recently installed two state-of-the-art X-ray CT machines from
RX Solutions: The EasyTom 150/160 and the UltraTom 230 kV.
These machines mark technological milestones and have revolutionised how scientists study complex energy storage systems in a non-destructing way.
These systems will play a crucial role in
visualizing and analyzing the internal structures of materials at unprecedented resolutions, further cementing HZB’s position as a leader in material research and characterization.
Whether revolutionizing renewable energy technologies or unraveling the mysteries of advanced materials, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin continues to shape the future of science and technology on a global scale.
